STUDIO ARCIBELLA

Kaupungintalon ravintola is a restaurant situated at the inner court of the Townhall of Helsinki City. The architecture of the building  is A listed, designed by Arno Ruusuvuori at 1960. The Mayor of Helsinki and the City council sit in this building which is situated by the most significant square of Helsinki, the Senate Square.

The interior renovation was thererfore executed in tight co-operation with the museum authoroties. With delicate changes we created an interior which is designed to last time yet being contemporary. Marble, real leather, brass and limestone were the classic materials we wanted to use in this distinguish interior. The warm terracotta color of the mural wall was hand picked from the art piece and replaced a very cool light blue, adding significally warmth to the space.

 

All fixed furniture are custom designed for the restaurant as well as the customized italian oak chairs with leather upholstery.

Ceilings were protected but we were able to add small layer with new lights on top of the reception/cashier counter, as well as the light technique that was replaced in existing spots. Tom Dixon's hanging amps give contemporary swing to the ceiling.

Helsingin kaupunginjohtaja ja kaupunginvaltuusto istuvat tässä rakennuksessa, joka sijaitsee Helsingin merkittävimmän aukion, Senaatintorin vieressä. Kaupungintalon ravintola sijaitsee Kaupungintalon sisäpihalla. Rakennuksen arkkitehtuurin on suunnitellut Arno Ruusuvuori vuonna 1960.

Tilan suunnittelu toteutettiin tiiviissä yhteistyössä museon viranomaisten kanssa, kunnioittaen rakennuksen pitkää historiaa. Hienovaraisten ja päivitetyn muutosten myötä loimme sisustuksen, joka sopii rakennukseen, olematta vanhanaikainen. Herkkojen muutosten myötä loimme sisustuksen, joka kestää aikaa. Päämateriaaleina toimii klassiset materiaalit marmori, nahka, messinki ja kalkkikivi. Seinien kylmä vaalean sininen sävy muutettiin lämpimään terrakottaan, ja sen sävy valittiin näkyvillä olevasta taideteoksesta. Kaikki kiinteät huonekalut ovat suunniteltu ravintolaan sopiviksi, samoin kuin räätälöidyt italialaiset tammiset nahkaverhoillut tuolit.

Tilan katot olivat suojeltuja, mutta pystyimme lisäämään valaisimia vastaanotto- ja kassatiskin päälle, samalla uusimalla olemassa olleen valaisujärjestelmän. Tom Dixonin roikkuvalaisimet tuovat pienen modernin häivähdyksen tilaan.
